Effect of Heat Excursions on Pharmaceuticals
Many medical products can be damaged and lose efficacy if they are exposed to a temperature above a certain threshold limit.  While excursions of a few minutes may not have a significant effect on the core temperature of the product, an excursion for a period of time may damage the product. Such excursions can go unnoticed during shipping.

Irreversible Heat Threshold Excursion Indicators
TH-F single-use threshold indicators irreversibly change color from white to red to signal that a heat excursion has occurred with some time delay. These indicators monitor heat sensitive products during short-term shipping.  A TH-F can be affixed to an individual unit, a multiple unit secondary package or a shipping box.  It is an ideal tool to extend the quality system and manage risk until patient administration.

Standard TH-F indicators are available with threshold heat response temperatures of 9°C and 25°C (all ± 1°C). Response temperatures at 17°C and 21°C are in development. Customized temperature limits can be developed to suit customer needs.
